The Sarteano Fortress stands on a massive travertine rock surrounded by lush vegetation that has grown around an embankment built during the last siege. A visit to the fortress evokes the atmosphere of the life of the garrisons that once resided here, whether walking along the defensive walkways leading to the side towers or climbing the steep stairs of the keep to reach the summit, where a beautiful panoramic view awaits. The park around the castle, with its ancient holm oaks, enhances the beauty of the place, creating a sense of detachment and isolation from the village below, making the entire site even more enchanting and offering moments of peace and relaxation. In front of the entrance lies the large, grassy parade ground enclosed by walls. Additionally, on the northern side, towards the Val di Chiana, a picturesque road recently built by the municipality offers an alternative route from the historic center. These spaces, steeped in history, are beautiful in every context: whether at summer sunset or in the morning mist of autumn.
