The Sarteano Fortress stands on a massive travertine rock surrounded by lush vegetation that has grown around an embankment built during the last siege. A visit to the fortress evokes the atmosphere of the life of the garrisons that once resided here, whether walking along the defensive walkways leading to the side towers or climbing the steep stairs of the keep to reach the summit, where a beautiful panoramic view awaits.
